Punctuation

A poem

“Kids,
Punctuation is important.
It makes your writing readable,
Gives you a chance to take a breather,
Gives credit to another when needed”
We’ve all heard it before,
In a distant memory,
The voice of an English teacher,
Echoing in our ears…

Life is a story,
A story you’re writing,
And punctuation is important,
In life too — I heard somewhere…

When you feel tempted,
To put a “full stop”,
Take a breather,
Turn it to a “comma” instead,
Or maybe even a “semi-colon”,
‘Coz your life is a story,
A story to be cherished.

Thanks for the prompt Lucy (the eggcademic)!

Poetry Prompt: punctuation. Your piece can explore punctuation as a concept, be devoid of punctuation as a statement, be solely constructed of commas. Just be you, as Amy Marley says :).
