Pride vs Bond

A poem on forgiveness

Feelings of hurt, guilt and pain,
Flood through my entire being.
The wrongs I did, the scars I made,
Hurt me more than words can say.

It seems as if there’s no future,
Not a single hope that things would get back,
To the state they once were.

But I want to forgive, to move on and be happy again,
To hug you and say that I’m sorry,
To see that smile on your face once more;
Because you matter to me more,
You mean so much more than my hurt pride.

I found this poem (written somewhere in 2015) in my “unposted” folder. To be honest, I don’t exactly remember what this was about. That itself shows how much forgiveness can heal us.

It’s not an easy journey, to get to a place where you forgive people. But it is such a powerful place, because it frees you. (Tyler Perry)
