It’s Snowing

Twirling,

Floating,

Dancing,

They descend to the ground,

Blanketing earth,

Like a fresh carpet of snow.

Here one day, gone the next;

Still a brief respite,

From the maddening crowds,

With each petal echoing,

“Remember,

Just because something doesn’t last forever,

Doesn’t mean it wasn’t worth your while”

Nature has inspired many of my poems. This poem was written at a time when I was in emotional turmoil about a certain person. It’s amazing how nature and poetry can heal our troubled minds.

I was reminded of this when I read an amazing interview of the late poet Mary Oliver (Link: https://onbeing.org/programs/mary-oliver-listening-to-the-world/ . A big thank you to Jenine Bsharah Baines for sharing it with me ❤). To quote one of her greatest poems, “Wild Geese”,
